Email hosting has become one of the most commonly used forms of communication technology in the industry, as providers allow for premium email services along with custom configurations and a large number of accounts.
TMCnet was there this week to report on all the latest email hosting news. Here are a few highlights:
Recently, email hosting provider Microsoft (News
- Alert) held its annual SharePoint conference in Las Vegas, and many of the announcements generated revolved around the upcoming release of SharePoint 2013. Companies are scrambling to get their products integrated with the new software, expected to be generally available in the first quarter of 2013.
BA Insight has launched a new Longitude Connector for Office 365 to enable users to search Office for content from SharePoint 2013. The connector can also search in SharePoint 2010 and 2007 as well as FAST (News - Alert) ESP, and integrates more than 40 enterprise systems with Microsoft SharePoint and FAST Search.
In other email hosting news this week, according to the "Shape of Email" study conducted by Loudhouse on behalf of cloud-based e-mail management specialist Mimecast, businesses still greatly value e-mail as a means of professional communication, as well as see the importance of reliable email hosting.
More than three-quarters of e-mail users who were included in the study revealed that social media has not reduced their reliance on e-mail when it comes to dealing with customers or colleagues. E-mail is still preferred over social media for all forms of workplace collaboration, including documentation exchange (preferred by 91 percent of respondents), arranging a meeting (89 percent), requesting information (88 percent), and sharing views and opinions (72 percent).
