In order to transform its business operations and accelerate server and desktop virtualization, EMC (News
- Alert) Corp. announced that Williams & Fudge Inc., an accounts receivable management firm serving 1,200 colleges, universities and financial institutions, has selected EMC VNX unified storage and RecoverPoint.
The company has achieved business expansion, improved availability of applications including SharePoint, SQL Server and VMware Zimbra (News - Alert) email, with EMC and VMware virtualization and cloud infrastructure technologies.
While delivering new services to its internal clients, it has lowered hardware and support costs.
As demand increased for assistance with collecting receivables on college loans and other debt from higher-education and financial institutions, Williams & Fudge's business subsequently expanded. Thus, to handle the company's growth, the firm's previous physical IT infrastructure lacked sufficient scalability.
It also required management resources, which was a drain on lean IT staff.
To transform its business, Williams & Fudge selected VNX unified storage with the help of eGroup, EMC premier Velocity solution provider. To its internal clients, VNX has enabled the firm to deliver new IT services, including the launch of a new business unit.
Leveraging the EMC FAST (News - Alert) Suite, VNX provides Williams & Fudge with a FLASH 1st automated tiering strategy along with flash and high-capacity HDDs. VNX supports Williams & Fudge's SharePoint, SQL Server, VMware Zimbra email and custom-built Linux applications.
Using VMware View, Williams & Fudge has virtualized 260 desktops along with 100 percent of its server infrastructure with vSphere. To streamline integration between VNX and VMware, it relies on VMware vStorage API for Array Integration (VAAI) and EMC VSI plug-ins for vCenter, enabling faster provisioning and copying of VMs, among other tasks.
To replicate its virtualized infrastructures across two data centers located 200 miles apart, Williams & Fudge uses RecoverPoint continuous data protection and VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for DR.
