Recently, it was revealed that online legal software provider Rocket Matter has integrated email hosting into its online practice management software. The company said that by using the IMAP protocol, the new built-in e-mail application will enable users to read, sort and reply to messages with the ability to interrupt access to data from other desktop, mobile and Web interfaces.
In a statement, Larry Port, CEO at Rocket Matter, said, “That allows us to associate matters with those e-mail folders. Each e-mail has a little dollar sign next to it, and you can click on it.”
The report indicates that colleagues will also be able to access messages related to key business operations even if the messages have been sent to different employees. In addition, users will be able to search messages as well as download attachments with ease.
The new email hosting capabilities also enable users to quickly associate correspondence with matters and track billable time when an e-mail is synced with a specific issue. In just a couple of clicks, your billing information is now saved.
Some other key features of Rocket Matter’s cloud-based practice management software include calendars, task tracking, phone messaging, Skype (News

While the calendars allow you to add users to your firm’s calendar as well as attendees to events/meetings and set reminders, the phone messaging functionality helps manage internal communications with an integrated contacts list and Skype integration connects you with contacts on Skype with just one click. Likewise, mobile access lets users view their Rocket account with any mobile device via a Web browser. It is optimized for the iPhone, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile, Android (News - Alert) and modern BlackBerry’s.
This offering is touted as upping the ante on email hosting suites now and in the future, yet I guess we will have to see what customers think about it after ultimately beginning to leverage it.
