Intermedia, a provider of Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange-based email hosting solutions, has just released  Outlook 2013 as an optional add on feature to be used in conjunction with Intermedia's (News - Alert) hosted Exchange 2007 and 2010 as well as the newest version, Hosted Exchange 2013.

Customers who have purchased Outlook through Intermedia can get a free upgrade to Outlook 2013.

Outlook 2013 boasts enhanced performance and a number of user-friendly features. While its performance is considerably faster than previous versions, it is fully optimized for tablets and other devices with small screens. The software can adapt itself according to the size of the screen as well as supports touch mode for tablets and touch screen laptops.

Another customer friendly feature included in Outlook is the provision for in-line composing without having to open a new window, and the enhanced inbox view that makes the names stand out in the message list. Further, the People Hub for integrating social contacts functions includes contacts in users' Outlook profiles in addition to contacts from social networks.

The cloud-enabled application integrates rich, scenario-focused content and services together with Outlook 2013. Apps for Outlook are available from a specially created marketplace with Exchange 2013.

The email hosting provider also powers Hosted Exchange 2013 that is comprised of Exchange 2013, Lync 2013, and SharePoint 2013 with Intermedia's services for backup, mobility, security, voice, and more. These services are delivered via its Office in the Cloud suite of services.

While Exchange 2013, Lync 2013 and SharePoint 2013 are the most updated versions of the world’s leading business communication and collaboration platforms, Intermedia claims it was the first company to offer hosted Exchange in 2000, the first to market with Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010, and the first to offer private label Hosted Exchange.
