Email Hosting Provider Reveals Apple iOS Operating System Remains Very Popular Among SMBs

By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

Intermedia (News - Alert), an email hosting solutions provider, recently revealed that mobile devices running Apple’s (News - Alert) iOS operating system remains the undisputed leader among the small and medium-sized business market.

In fact, for the last three months the operating system lead the pack in new device activations among Intermedia SMBs, totaling 68.2 percent of all mobile device activations. Google’s (News - Alert) Android operating system followed Apple with 25.1 percent, while BlackBerry came in third with 4.1 percent and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system took the fourth spot with 2.6 percent of activations.

“Our customers are using their smartphones and tablets like never before,” says Michael Gold, president, Intermedia, in a statement. “For example, they are using hosted PBX to route calls to their mobile devices; they can read voicemails as e-mails while in a meeting; and they can access their data via a cloud server. Just as importantly, admins can log in to the HostPilot Mobile App and manage their accounts without being tied to the office. Without Intermedia’s platform of cloud services, this would be a resource challenge for small and mid-sized businesses to set up, secure, and manage on their own.”

Additionally, the email hosting provider reviewed the number of smartphones its customers activated to sync their e-mail, contacts, and calendars. Its business e-mail and collaboration cloud services including Microsoft Exchange support the full range of smartphones and tablets, including iPhone (News - Alert), Android, BlackBerry, and Windows.

Intermedia offers Fortune 50 level IT services to small and medium-sized businesses, which enables them to compete like much larger enterprises. Its robust portfolio includes services for backup, mobility, security, voice and more.

In related company news, TMCnet has reported that Intermedia has introduced its Hosted Exchange 2013 beta program, which enables users to experience the latest, most advanced touch interface and roaming capabilities across multiple devices currently on the market.
