Fleet Solutions Company Trimble Finds a Friend in Sprint

From GPS devices to lasers to optical and inertial technologies, Trimble (News - Alert) is in the business of providing advanced positioning solutions to maximize productivity and enhance profitability.

For almost three decades, Trimble’s solutions have been enabling professionals in engineering and construction, surveying, agriculture, fleet management and field services to be more productive by revolutionizing their work processes.

“From a mobile solutions perspective, we offer complete end-to-end fleet management solutions while reinforcing our existing growth strategy for location-enabled mobile devices,” Joyce Tam, director of product marketing for Fleet Solutions, told TMCnet.

“Trimble’s inspiration has been, and still is, to transform the way work is done through the application of innovative solutions,” she added. “We do this by combining positioning, wireless communications and application solutions. Leveraging these capabilities has allowed Trimble to expand its mobile resource solutions.”

In fact, Trimble has expanded its resource solutions so rapidly that the company’s portfolio now includes over 900 patents and serves as the basis for the broadest positioning offerings in the industry. Trimble’s products are used in over 100 countries around the world.

Trimble’s fleet solutions, in particular, have taken the market by storm as they enable business of all sizes and of differing global markets to increase fleet productivity while reducing fuel costs, decreasing fuel emissions, improving safety and streamlining productivity and operations, according to company officials.

“What excites me most about Trimble is that it continually invests in innovative technology to meet the needs of our customers,” Tam said. “For instance, the following Trimble solutions are hosted on our GeoManager cloud-computing platform, which integrates advanced in-vehicle hardware, GPS, vehicle diagnostics and wireless communication technologies for exceptional performance and simplicity of use. Trimble GeoManager Fleet Management offers real-time field status information and alerts to help manage overall fleet performance; Trimble GeoManager Driver Safety measures aggressive driving behaviors to help managers promote safety; Trimble GeoManager Work Management provides visibility into mobile worker utilization to optimize routes and scheduling; and Trimble GeoManager Driver Logs Hours of Service automates the collection of data for government compliance.”

One company that helps Trimble continue to foster innovation is Sprint (News - Alert), an embedded M2M solutions company. Trimble decided to partner with Sprint as Sprint’s leadership as a technology provider and user resonated with Trimble’s intrinsic values, according to Tam.

Since Sprint provides a “comprehensive set of solutions and support services” that companies use to design and maintain M2M solutions, Trimble decided to chose Sprint as the first mobile broadband network to offer Trimble GeoManager Work Management solution. The Trimble GeoManager Work Management is a scheduling and dispatch solution that helps field service companies optimize the efficiency of their mobile fleets.

“Using a cloud computing-based solution on the dispatch side, the GeoManager platform for vehicle tracking and Sprint smart devices for mobile workers, Trimble’s Work Management helps companies achieve the ideal work day—where customer commitments are fulfilled and unexpected requests are easily integrated into the work day,” Tam said. “Trimble’s Work Management solution is offered through Sprint’s Emerging Solutions Group, which serves as a single-source business partner for M2M resources and expertise.”

As Trimble readies for the next decade, the company stands ready to continue providing a suite of products and solutions that will transform the mobile workforce and deliver more value over time.

“To succeed, we will assist our customers in measuring productivity and asset utilization, and we will help them improve communication with the mobile worker and back office, and deliver new tools to streamline work activities and keep their fleet safe,” Tam said. “It’s this dedication to customers and ongoing investment in R&D that will drive our growth. That’s what the future holds.”
