USAT and Eaton Conspire to Deliver Second-to-None M2M Services in Electrical Vehicle Solutions

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

In a bid to grab a position in the dynamic machine-to-machine (M2M) market, USA Technologies (News - Alert), Inc. (USAT) has expanded on its cashless payment solutions and M2M services offered in the kiosk market. To provide electrical vehicle solutions is Eaton Corporation (News - Alert) (‘Eaton’) which is an already existing USAT customer.

Eaton has AC Level 2 Electrical Vehicles working stations and already has an option for USAT’s ePort, a factor that is bound to make seamless integration of the two innovations. In addition to the ePort support that enables secure, cashless payment acceptance, Eaton also recently added its new high-powered DC Quick Charger to the cashless lineup.

Eaton specializes in setting up public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in North America and is currently expanding its hold in the region. Following the DC Quick Charger description posted on the company website, the solution will provide swift and convenient electric vehicle charging that can charge a vehicles battery capacity to over 80 percent in just under 30 minutes. Eaton’s latest charger allows users to use magnetic card swiping and offers consumers an opportunity to pay via time-based intervals or flat rates.

With kiosk solutions popularity on the rise, the senior vice president of sales and business development for USA technologies, Michael Lawlor, feels that collaborating with Eaton is an excellent shot at extending the versatility of the company’s ePort technology and services to unmanned kiosk markets.

On the other hand, Eaton feels that USAT is the supplier that can give the long sought for end-to-end solution that includes a compact, PCI (News - Alert) compliant card processing system on a truly remote commercial electric vehicle charging station. Better still, USAT surpasses this with its tested and proven experience in small-ticket dealings and the crucial collection of services necessary to operation of Eaton’s electrical charging operators.

USAT gives front-end solutions like ePort, ePort SDK and QuickConnect. QuickConnect is a Web-based API that, when combined with USAT’s comprehensive ePort Connect solutions, delivers a wireless and secure platform for cashless transactions and data collection to developers and manufacturers.
