Applications Manager Allows Website Tracking from Users' Locations

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

ManageEngine (News - Alert) has released additional assistance for its on-premise application performance tracking offering, Applications Manager. The organization will now offer website tracking assistance for Applications Manager by incorporating the solution with its SaaS (News - Alert)-based online infrastructure monitoring service, Site24x7. Applications Manager will therefore be able to track a minimum of 50 applications and servers directly from inside the organization’s datacenter.

Users of Applications Manager can now track their websites and other web-based services from inside the datacenter and also from several remote locations. Users will also have access to performance reports from multiple geographical locations along with a combined alarm console.

An on-premise model of tracking is utilized by Applications Manager to observe applications and supporting units like servers, databases and web servers. Websites and web applications, which are meant for customers, across the globe, are tracked by the hosted website tracking service, Site24x7. Businesses can also utilize a hybrid tracking model, which merges the advantages of on-premise and hosted tracking models, by incorporating performance metrics from Site24x7 into Applications Manager. Apart from tracking their websites from their official LAN, businesses can also track the performance of their websites from remote locations, which include a minimum of 40 geographical locations that are normally nearer to the locations of the users and visitors.

In a statement, Mathew, director of Product Management at ManageEngine, said, “With the aid of full data integration of Site24x7 into Applications Manager, our users get the benefits of analytics from multiple domains. It is a monitoring approach that uses the best of both worlds and enables businesses to get a better understanding of the user experience, closer to how their websites behave for actual users.”

Similar to the site experience for a visitor, applications can now be tracked from both inside the enterprise datacenter and several external locations due to the incorporation of Applications Manager with Site24x7. Users of Applications Manager are provided insight into server performance inside the LAN and other problems like DNS issues, which mar the performance of the website. The groups of URLs that have been configured in Site24x7 are aligned in Applications Manager. Users can therefore simply import the configuration data of Site24x7 into Applications Manager.
