A2B Tracking Unveils IUID Maintenance Solutions

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

The software products that power an IUID implementation must allow the company to create UID and RFID labels, define and capture item unique data, track and update item status throughout its full lifecycle, and integrate with enterprise systems.

A2B Tracking provides software solutions that do just that, as a major player in IUID and RFID software development.

Recently, the company announced it will be introducing new release features of its UC! Web data management and tracking software at an upcoming conference.

By improving the productivity and getting rid of loss and waste, the new release, expected in spring 2013, will offer even stronger infrastructure support. According to the company, this enhanced level of productivity will be used by the maintenance community for years to come.

By offering visibility of all assets detected with IUID marks (MIL STD 130), RFID pallet tags (MIL STD 129) and linear barcodes, the release caters to the DoD priority to deploy serialized item management (SIM).

And through a chain of custody which includes the asset’s location through check-out/check-in process control, it improves the ability to accurately track each asset’s condition.

“We are implementing a capability that will revolutionize military maintenance and repair both in terms of technology sophistication and results,” said A2B president and CEO Peter Collins. “Users of UC! Web are seeing tremendous payback due to a dramatic reduction in maintenance cycle time. Further payback comes as item and component failures are identified, supporting predictive maintenance.”

Recently, the company announced a new Android App for users of the company’s Web-based data management software. Allowing users to verify correct syntax to MIL STD 130 and ISO standards, the app decodes machine-readable codes and is designed to scan and validate 2D Data Matrix IUID barcodes using an Android (News - Alert) device camera.

The new app also lets users spot-check UIDs for MIL STD 130 compliance.
