San Diego-based company FieldLogix created a “green” GPS-based fleet management system with a number of benefits, including the ability to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, cut costs, improve worker safety while increasing workforce productivity, and improving customer service. They have been providing their clients with these benefits since 2002. Now, the company has announced that they will by utilizing the Sprint (News - Alert) wireless network to transmit real-time information from its GPS tracking device to a Web-based application.
This location data will facilitate more efficient fleet management with the ability to view vehicle routes, monitor aggressive driving behavior, and provide minute-by-minute location updates.
The CEO of FieldLogix, Yukon Palmer, sees Sprint as an ideal partner; “Sprint has demonstrated its commitment to the burgeoning Machine-to-Machine (M2M) services industry by investing in its network and providing a team that’s dedicated to developing emerging solutions.” Sprint, he says, will benefit FieldLogix’s new and existing clients by providing them with a “substantial” improvement in service. He added, “Our technology is always improving and we require a wireless carrier that is committed to supporting us in the long-term.”
Sprint’s Wayne Ward shares his enthusiasm, stating that Sprint is excited about the collaboration with FieldLogix as the two “work towards making transportation safer and more efficient.” This, he says, is beneficial to their overall goals in the area; “As a carrier committed to network choice, Sprint believes M2M customers should be able to choose or combine network capabilities, depending on their requirements.”
According to their website, the FieldLogix driver training program saves companies five percent in costs, the driver scoring system saves companies 15 percent, and curbing aggressive driving saves companies 40 percent. With the added benefits that Sprint will provide, FieldLogix’s service promises to get even better. This new partnership will, undoubtedly, help companies to reduce their costs and increase their profits.
