ZTR Unveils M50 Broadband Telematics Unit

By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributor

ZTR, a company specializing in both locomotive modernization and remote equipment monitoring services, launched M50, a powerful and versatile addition to its telematics product line.

ZTR Intelligent Equipment Management solutions have evolved from over two decades of real world experience in a range of industry applications. The newly launched M50 is noted to offer 3G wireless broadband routing along with standard GPS and telematics connectivity. This wireless gateway and remote monitoring system is noted to be perfect for connectivity and diagnostics with power generation equipment controllers, oil & gas site controllers/PLCs, and locomotive control systems.

M50 is part of the ZTR inReach solution, which provides action-oriented information on equipment productivity, health, and GPS location. ZTR’s inReach is recognized as a perfect remote equipment monitoring system that delivers the right equipment information to the right people at the right time.

M50 fits perfectly with the machine2business approach pioneered by ZTR. M2B is a telematics methodology designed to integrate real-time communication between generators and business systems to ensure uptime. The exceptional programming flexibility of M50 enables ZTR to integrate with on-board equipment controllers via serial and Ethernet, using a wide variety of protocols.

The M2B approach then magnifies the telematics system value by integrating inReach with business systems on the other end and delivering the right equipment information to the right people at the right time.

Back in October 2012, ZTR released the new M4H GPS tracking unit, a self-powered, easy-to-install, slap and track-type system. M4H is part of the inReach solution and fits perfectly with ZTR's machine to business approach.

In another release, the company announced the launch of its ROVER Locomotive Radio Remote Control, a portable system that operates locomotives and other rail yard mobile equipment remotely. Each radio remote control system can be customized for each customer's application.
