Sprint (News - Alert), in association with Aegis Mobility, will be providing the FleetSafer distracted driving application that will assist businesses, commercial fleet owners and operators concentrate better on driving.  Drivers can now avoid certain distractions with FleetSafer software for mobile devices.

Organizations are unable to guarantee that its employees completely concentrate on driving and are not using mobile devices while they are behind the wheel. According to a recent survey by Aegis Mobility, a majority of the employers have been forced to implement written policies that define satisfactory usage of mobile phones while driving.

When a vehicle installed with FleetSafer starts moving, the software is activated automatically. The software prevents texting, e-mailing and browsing on any mobile device. The software will, however, allow hands-free phone communications. Organizations will also be able to conform to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules set for interstate truck and bus drivers and mobile phone usage.

In a statement, Ryan Hendley, CEO of IH Services, Inc. said, “We currently use FleetSafer in more than 100 vehicles. FleetSafer encourages our employees to use their cell phones in a responsible manner and helps our company reduce risk and manage liability. FleetSafer has been so successful that we intend to make it available to other companies, through our association with the National Service Alliance (NSA) and Sprint.”

According to John Dupree, SVP of Business Sales at Sprint, the organization is dedicated to tackling the important problem of distracted driving. Businesses will be able to strengthen policies and decrease risks with the help of technology, thereby assisting their employees to concentrate on driving. The tie-up with Aegis Mobility ensures that FleetSafer will now be widely available. The software will provide commercial drivers an effective and proficient manner of operation, thereby eliminating distracted driving.
