Eurotech, a supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, launched its new generation of modules in the Catalyst series of embedded computers. The Catalyst BT (News - Alert) computer on module (CoM) is based on the Intel Atom E3800 series and is expected to provide customers with industrial-grade quad, dual or single-core performance.

Hilary Tomasson, VP of Marketing for Eurotech in North America, said in a statement, “The Catalyst BT showcases Eurotech’s expertise in extremely low power, industrial grade platforms while taking advantage of the latest processor features and video capabilities.”

According to officials, the Catalyst BT will feature enhanced network and video capabilities in addition to low power consumption. The solution is suitable for intelligent Internet of Things devices as it can deliver high computing and graphic performance in a 67×100 mm CoM form factor.

The Catalyst BT serves as a native IoT/M2M platform capable of supporting Everyware device cloud. It is a scalable cloud offering comprising of open M2M protocols, cloud-based databases, and brokers that can be accessed via REST APIs.

It is compatible with ESF (Everyware Software Framework), the Java-based software framework that enables portable, high level programming of embedded devices. The Catalyst BT also supports Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows and Linux operating systems.

The other salient features of the Catalyst BT include support for CPU speeds up to 1.91GHz, DDR3L memory, and I/O capabilities such as USB 3.0, PCIe expansion buses and Gigabit Ethernet.

The modules can also function optimally in an extended temperature range of -40 o C to +85 o C, making them suitable for space and temperature-constrained devices that are common in medical, industrial, gaming, retail and automotive markets.

“The Catalyst product line continues to satisfy customers who are working to conceive, build and connect embedded systems, like the devices that enable the Internet of Things and other embedded applications. Our expertise allows them to do that quickly and reliably,” added Tomasson.

Eurotech subsidiary Parvus Corporation, a Cisco (News - Alert) solutions technology integrator (STI), introduced the DuraNET 30-2020 last year. It is an ultra-rugged device designed for size, weight and power (SwaP)-sensitive harsh military and civil environments like in aircraft, vehicle, mining and industrial applications. The unit provides reliable local area network (LAN) switching capabilities with ease of use, secure access and manageability features.
