Home security technology has grown a lot in the last few years with the advent of connected monitoring technologies. Beginning as basic alarm devices, these home security appliances have grown to become interactive tools that enable homeowners to be in touch with their house, even while they are away.
Taking home security technology a step further, Icontrol Networks has announced two enhancements to the Piper all-in-one home awareness and management device. These enhancements provide two-way audio and multi-Piper features and enable home owners to create more than one security zone.
Piper enables users to monitor the safety of their house with their mobile devices. This provides unprecedented flexibility for the users as they can use these facilities without any contracts. With Piper, users can also create independent security zones within their homes. With Z-Wave integration, Piper also enables complete home awareness and automation control.
Apart from ensuring the safety of home, Piper also enables users to keep an eye on the kids and elders in the house with the in-built camera in the app. Two-way audio facilitates the ability to interact on the app and this enhances the security features on Piper.
“The ability to simply and easily interact with and secure your entire home–not just one room–when you’re away has been a priority of ours since we first developed Piper,” said Russell Ure, creator of Piper and executive vice president and general manager of Icontrol’s Canadian business unit. “We’re excited to offer an enhanced experience to our current and future customers.”
Piper has been winning some accolades for its unique security features. Recently, it was named a finalist in the M2M, IoT, Sensors, RFID & NFC category of CTIA (News - Alert)'s annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards competition. It was also nominated in the Connected Home category of the Hot for the Holidays Awards competition.
