StrongMail Appoints New CTO to Drive Bold New Marketing Analytics Product Line
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
StrongMail, a leading provider of email
marketing and cross-channel marketing solutions for enterprises,
today announced the appointment of Jeremy Sterns (News - Alert) as Chief Technology
Officer. An accomplished marketing technology executive and
entrepreneur, Sterns is extending StrongMail's leading cross-channel
campaign tools for marketers with a cutting-edge analytics platform
built on new technologies that will put currently unavailable insights
in the hands of enterprise marketers to drive stronger marketing
programs.
"Jeremy has been working with us for most of 2012 to help define our new
analytics platform, and we've made great progress," said Bill Wagner,
CEO of StrongMail. "Bringing Jeremy on as our full-time CTO will allow
us to bring this product to market much sooner than originally
anticipated. As enterprises increase their use of data, conduct more
marketing analytics and implement more program automation, traditional
ESP systems built five or more years ago will be rendered useless for
large scale marketers. Most marketers just assume that their ESP will
keep pace with what's happening - until they hit the wall or experience
a service outage that impacts their business."
Prior to StrongMail, Sterns held executive technology roles at a variety
of marketing and technology companies. Sterns previously served as CTO
of Genesis Media, where he led the transformation of a destination site
based on promotional video engagement into network-distributable
high-scale video advertising products. Prior to Genesis Media, Sterns
served as CTO of SWN Communications, where he led architecture and
organization improvemens for scalability and reliability of the
emergency communications platform used by many Fortune 500 and
government clients. Sterns also co-founded ContextWeb, the first
real-time contextualization platform and service for Internet
advertising. As CTO, he built the company's technology infrastructure
from inception to more than a billion transactions per month. In
addition, Sterns has held technology and leadership roles at Microsoft (News - Alert)
and Sapient, working with financial services clients, including JP
Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.
"There's a perfect storm developing for enterprise marketers, driven by
an increasing desire to use more and more data, analytics and automation
to drive better marketing," said Sterns. "I've been impressed with
StrongMail's product strategy, which already allows marketers to access
and leverage more data for segmentation and personalization than any
other ESP - but we're now taking this to an entirely new level. By
leveraging new technologies and commercial cloud offerings, we are going
to raise the bar dramatically for our clients in terms of the volume and
variety of data they can bring into their marketing efforts."
