The Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) companies of Payment Card Industry (PCI (News - Alert)) Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) are companies that have been qualified by the Council to have their employees assess compliance to the PCI DSS standard. To validate an entity’s adherence to the PCI DSS, qualified Security Assessors are employees of these companies who have been certified by the Council.
Recently, Security Management Partners (SMP), an independent information security consulting firm, has announced its certification as a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
In future, Any PCI engagement with SMP will help to make sure that a company achieves compliance with PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) with the help of assessment prevention, detection, remediation and finally, if necessary, certification via a written letter of compliance (ROC) detailing the company’s information and network security.
The PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) includes a specific framework of twelve needs for developing complete payment card data security processes to safeguard consumers and businesses that use credit, debit, ATM, prepaid and POS cards and related products, the company stated in a press release.
SMP President, James P. Achille, commented, "Members, merchants, and service providers who do not adhere to the PCI DSS are at significant risk of losing processing privileges or incurring substantial fines for each infraction -- up to $500,000 per incident. Recently, the company announced that its hospitals and healthcare information technology (IT) audit and assessment services will now be available all over U.S. SMP already has more than 100 healthcare clients in the Northeast and is created to assist hospitals and healthcare companies attest for meaningful use and mitigate security gaps and vulnerabilities.
