GL Communications Unveils LinkTest Dual E1

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

GL Communications (News - Alert), Inc. recently unveiled its latest offering, LinkTest DUAL E1. This hand-held device operates on battery and is used for E1 testing and measurement.

“LinkTest DUAL E1 is a user-friendly, hand-held, battery operated, E1 test and measurement device with standard basic features plus sophisticated Jitter, Wander and Datacom testing options, and comes with a very low cost,” said Vijay Kulkarni, CEO at GL Communications. “One unit provides most, if not all, the testing features you may need in the field to make troubleshooting easy and quick.”

According to Kulkarni, the latest dual-port tester for E1 and data communications is available for several interfaces like V.11 / X.24, V.24/RS232, V.35, V.36/RS449, EIA-530 and EIA-530A. While Port A is a complete-featured 2048 kb/s interface, Port B usage can be configured either as 2048 kb/s TX/RX, co-directional, or for clock input.

DUAL E1 also features an external DC input and internal rechargeable batteries, making it ideal for field-testing applications.

Kulkarni added that the LinkTest DUAL E1 unit offers a scalable test offering for E1 and datacom testing, due to its ability to support a huge assortment of software alternatives for E1 services and sub-rate multiplexing. The unit also offers a huge, comprehensible screen with a complete set of physical layer tests for E1 balanced and unbalanced circuits like BERT, VF, round trip delay and signal level.

“The tester is simple to use and rugged - perfect for installation, commissioning and maintenance of digital networks,” said Kulkarni. “The unit is an excellent tester for network operators, contractors and enterprise users who have to manage fixed and mobile networks using E1 and Datacom back-haul circuits.

The main applications include digital voice and data testing, jitter measurement, wander measurement and pulse mask compliance. The tester can be used for maintaining and troubleshooting PDH, synchronization and datacom links.

The sturdy, hand-held LinkTest DUAL E1 is reasonably priced and includes software that can be upgraded for field use. Both framed signals and unframed tests can be generated and analyzed with this tester.

DUAL E1 can collect call records from remote locations as well, and assist in generating and monitoring of CAS signals.
