SAS (News - Alert), a provider of business analytics software and services, recently released the SAS Visual Analytics to help users realize a cost-effective fast path to business insight and better decisions, and combined its DataFlux business unit into SAS global operations.
These efforts have reportedly been lauded by analysts from 451 Research, who acknowledged that SAS has turned up the heat on business analytics and has brought DataFlux into the fold.
The context of the 451 Research’s new report titled “SAS gets into visual analysis in earnest, brings DataFlux unit into the fold” says that SAS is attempting to up its game in business analytics and data management. Visual Analytics should give SAS the chance to meet the growing need for business analytics both within in its installed base and outside of it, and puts the company more on par with the competition.
“SAS Visual Analytics sports a highly visual interface and draws on an internally developed in-memory computation engine, which generates visualizations on the fly and uses the Hadoop open source data-processing framework's file system (HDFS) for local storage,” revealed 451 Research.
SAS Visual Analytics is stated to be a high-performance, in-memory solution for exploring massive amounts of data very quickly. It enables users to spot patterns, identify opportunities for further analysis and convey visual results via Web reports or the iPad.
SAS explained that incorporating DataFlux into SAS helped SAS customers build an integrated information management strategy that goes beyond data management and governance to support analytics and decision management.
SAS added that 451 Research’s acknowledgement supposedly validates its vision of self-service data visualization to uncover insights and opportunities.
In related news, 451 Research recently published first-ever market-sizing report for the Datacenter Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software market and Calpont and 451 Research teamed up to discuss new and emerging analytic platforms.
