Enterprise solutions require a multitude of thought and planning to be successfully deployed. But there are success stories out there from which everyone can learn. Elmhurst Memorial Hospital’s work with Panduit is one case in point.
Elmhurst opened in 1926 and was charged with a mission to enhance the health of the community. The mission worked and the hospital expanded into what is now a 50-acre state-of-the-art hospital. Being state-of-the-art included taking on enterprise solutions that would reach across the campus and be effective in delivering the most out of the advanced equipment and techniques medical personnel use to heal their patients.
The hospital administrators started with a plan that focused on a solid foundation and the ability to build up enterprise solutions around what they wanted. The hospital needed a robust and reliable infrastructure that would see them through a variety of technology changes in the future. The enterprise solutions had to be scalable and flexible as the hospital continues to grow.
Part of Panduit’s solutions was to incorporate products such as the TX6A data center solution, which utilizes 10gig UTP copper cabling and MaTrix Technology. According to this case study, Panduit also brought in the TX6A-SD system as well as the Opti-Com fiber optic cabling system. The copper and the fiber optic combination deliver the best that technology has to offer today while positioning itself for the technology of tomorrow.
Doctors need to be able to rely on the technological advances that help them heal their patients as well as attract new patients. Furthermore, the services the doctors provide need to be uninterrupted. The enterprise solutions chosen for the project went above and beyond what was actually needed at the time of installation.
In fact, it’s estimated that hospital staff only uses a fraction of the capacity. But this ensures that there is plenty of room so that services won’t suffer in the future as new technology is brought online.
The medical industry is always undergoing evolutions of technology that make their practices more efficient and accurate. Panduit’s cable coupled with Cisco (News - Alert) switches allow the high-tech offerings such as physiological monitoring, radiology systems, security cameras, Internet in patient rooms, nurse calling systems and robotic surgical equipment to run with no downtime.
Doctors, nurses and specialists rely on patient information that is up-to-the-minute, and Panduit’s enterprise solutions brought the technology to make that a reality. Caregivers can more accurately document the patient information into records and place alerts that keep hospital staff well-informed and able to respond in a manner that improves their patients’ quality of life.
