iBasis (News - Alert), an international voice carrier and provider of retail prepaid calling services and data services for mobile operators, has recently switched to AMS-IX Inter-IPX service with an intention to expand the reach of their IPX product portfolio.

As per the new agreement, AMS-IX will provide iBasis with a secure and efficient one-stop shop to interconnect to other IPX providers and exchange voice and data services. This solution is said to bring down operational cost by clubbing multiple services over a single, managed interconnect in one facility.

“AMS-IX not only offers us a single point where we can exchange multiple services quickly with many different mobile operators, it also gives us guaranteed end-to-end quality of service through the Inter-IPX SLA,” said Chris Lengyel, iBasis director of Strategic Marketing and New Products.

The AMS-IX platform claims to offer a professional, high quality, non-blocking peering service for all types of IP traffic, be it regular IP data such as e-mail or Web content, or video/TV and hosting cloud parties. This solution provides a base for regional and neighbouring IPX networks to efficiently link to each other and cover more territory, content and volume. The Inter-IPX service offers high quality standards required by GSMA (News - Alert) and includes an Inter-IPX SLA.

“We are pleased that iBasis has chosen to connect to our Inter-IPX service and in this way recognizes the value of this service for its organization and end-users,” says Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX. “With its innovative and high level of service iBasis is a valuable addition to our Inter-IPX community.”

AMS-IX claims to have hosted the first mobile peering point worldwide, the Global GPRS Roaming Exchange (GRX), the Mobile Data Exchange (MDX) and the first interconnection of IPX networks.
