Harris Corporation (News - Alert), an international communications and information technology company, recently appointed James D. Morris as the group president of the company’s Integrated Network Solutions (News - Alert) business.

A veteran of 20 years in the industry, Morris will handle Harris CapRock Communications, Harris Healthcare Solutions and Harris IT Services. He will report to Harris president and CEO, William M. Brown.

Prior to joining Harris, Morris held domestic and international leadership positions of increasing responsibility at Western Digital (News - Alert) Corporation. He has also worked as a senior engagement manager with McKinsey and Company.

Morris also holds experience in the U.S. Army, where he held the position of intelligence officer. He was awarded a Bronze Star in Operation Desert Storm.

“We are thrilled to have Jim join the Harris leadership team,” said Brown. “His breadth of experience leading global technology operations, combined with his deep expertise in strategy development and background in the U.S. military, will be a tremendous asset to Harris. As a member of our leadership team, he will play an important role in helping us achieve our strategy of growing our commercial and international businesses.”

Harris is an international communications and information technology company serving government and commercial markets in more than 125 countries. Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, the company has approximately $5.5 billion of annual revenue and about 15,000 employees – including nearly 6,000 engineers and scientists.

In related news, Harris recently received an $11-million order from the Ministry of Defense of a NATO country for the Falcon III Secure Personal Radios (SPR). The order is tied to a new framework contract, similar to an IDIQ, with the potential to reach $20 million over 2013.

This NATO country's armed forces are acquiring the Harris RF-7800S SPR, advanced headsets and other accessories to provide high-performance voice, integrated hearing protection, wideband data and situational awareness capabilities at the team, squad and platoon levels.
