Procera Networks (News
- Alert), a company that delivers network intelligence solutions based on Deep Packet Inspection technology, recently completed the acquisition of Vineyard Networks, a Canada-based company that provides Enterprise DPI solutions.
As the result of the acquisition, Procera will combine Vineyard’s Enterprise DPI solutions with its PacketLogic products, providing customers and partners with a single solution for Intelligence, Analytics and Enforcement.
Reports suggest the deal will enable Procera to add about $5 million in revenue in the future.
Procera's PacketLogic solutions are the engine that drives the new Digital Lifestyle enabled by advanced broadband networks. The PacketLogic Real-Time Enforcement platforms (PRE) utilize multiple hardware platforms that run the same operating software.
Each of the platforms offer consistent feature richness enabled through the different PacketLogic software modules: LiveView, Filtering, Traffic Shaping, and Statistics.
The PacketLogic hardware platforms offer a range of configurations.
James Brear, Procera’s president and CEO, said, “Every network element will require intelligence. Our strategic vision is to enable networks of any size to have the intelligence needed to operate effectively. Procera directly addresses this need for service providers of all types through our PacketLogic solutions. Vineyard enables Procera to expand our total addressable market through their OEM business to include enterprise network equipment vendors, adding the entire enterprise space along with additional opportunities in the service provider OEM market.”
“The addition of Vineyard, which has 34 employees mostly in engineering and product development, establishes Procera as the clear leader in the high-growth DPI market,” he said.
Meanwhile, Procera Networks recently received a follow-on, $1.3-million order from a Tier 1 multi-system operator (MSO) in Western Europe. This operator serves broadband subscribers across its countrywide footprint as part of its residential triple play service offerings.
This customer first installed Procera PacketLogic 10000 platforms in 2008, the company said, and with this order, is upgrading to the PacketLogic 20000 to avail the benefits of its throughput capacity, scalability and high availability.
