BRIEF: Verizon customers experiencing outages nationwide
Dec 21, 2011 (Lubbock Avalanche-Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Verizon wireless engineers were working Wednesday morning to diagnose and fix a problem that shut down data usage in 4G LTE services, according to a Verizon spokesperson.
In the early hours of the morning, a problem was detected with the 4G data usage, spokesperson Audry Lundy said, but the cause of the problem is still unknown.
Some customers could make calls and send and receive text messages, she said. Those wishing to use data were referred back to the 3G network for the time being, she added, although published reports state customers are still having issues with their phones.
Lundy could not give an exact timeframe of when all the issues, which are not affecting all Verizon customers, would be fixed.
Reports of angry customers flooded Twitter this morning, from areas including New Hampshire, Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma.
Lundy could not confirm the extent of the outage.
