Energy Future Holdings Recognized for $3 Million United Way, TXU Energy Aid Campaign
DALLAS --(Business Wire)--
Just in time for the season of giving, Energy Future Holdings is
wrapping up another successful fundraising campaign - proudly
contributing nearly $3 million through United Way and TXU Energy AidSM.
"For the second year in a row, our employees raised more than $2 million
and with the company's additional $1 million match, we're able to make
our dollars stretch even further to help our neighbors and customers in
need," said Claudia Morrow, 2012 EFH campaign chair. "In addition to
their donations, employees gave their time - rounding out their legacy
of excellence with more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service in their
communities."
In recognition of its efforts, United Way recently honored EFH as a
recipient of two Pacesetter awards: Best Practices for Volunteerism and
Outstanding Leadership Campaign. Pacesetter awards recognize companies
that set the tone for the campaign and inspire others to support United
Way initiatives.
"If someone wants to see how inviting emloyees to change lives forever
can energize an entire organization, I would encourage them to visit
Energy Future Holdings and its business units during their United Way
campaign," said Jennifer Sampson, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas
president and CEO. "The generosity of EFH employees is boundless, and
we're thankful for their unwavering commitment to changing lives through
their contributions and heartfelt volunteer support."
Providing a positive impact for countless individuals, United Way's
programs and services offer vital resources in the areas of health,
education and income. In addition, funds raised through TXU Energy AidSM,
the largest bill-payment assistance program among electricity providers
in the nation, will help local residents retain critical electric
service during the cold winter months.
About Energy Future Holdings
EFH is a Dallas-based holding company engaged in competitive and
regulated energy market activities, primarily in Texas. Its portfolio of
competitive businesses consists primarily of TXU Energy, a retail
electricity provider with approximately 1.8 million customers in Texas,
and Luminant, which is engaged largely in power generation and related
mining activities, wholesale power marketing and energy trading.
Luminant has approximately 15,400 MW of generation in Texas, including
2,300 MW fueled by nuclear power and 8,000 MW fueled by coal. Luminant
is also one of the largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity in
Texas and in the United States. EFH's regulated operations consist of
Oncor, which operates the largest electricity distribution and
transmission system in Texas with more than three million delivery
points and approximately 118,000 miles of distribution and transmission
lines. While EFH indirectly owns approximately 80 percent of Oncor, the
management of Oncor reports to a separate board with a majority of
directors that are independent from EFH.
