Open Market Handset is sponsoring a webinar titled, “Unlocking the Open Market Potential for CDMA Devices” on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 11:00 PM EDT and 8 PM PDT.

OMH, through what company officials say is its “Test once, launch everywhere” principle, opened “a new chapter in CDMA2000 devices market. With more than 40 devices, 15 vendors, and 12 operators in four countries under its fold, OMH is rapidly expanding globally.”

The webinar will look at how this successful industry initiative will, in the words of OMH officials, “continue to deliver choice, flexibility and opportunity to its stakeholders.”

Among the topics to be covered are understanding the market drivers behind OMH, why the “Test once, launch everywhere” approach makes sense and India – the OMH success story – and what the key takeaways are from there.

The webinar will also deal with OMH and the emergence of local brands, and market opportunities in South East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and beyond.

The main presenter will be John Stefanac, president of Qualcomm (News - Alert) Southeast Asia & Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Stefanac oversees the execution of Qualcomm's market strategies and manage the company's business operations throughout the region.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technologies industries, joining Qualcomm from Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks where, as vice president and general manager of Asia/Pacific, he led the company's regional marketing and sales efforts.

Previously, he served as vice president of sales and business development Asia/Pacific for Flextronics Network Services in Singapore. Stefanac also spent more than 10 years in leadership positions at Lucent Technologies/AT&T (News - Alert) in Australia and Singapore, managing the company's in-country sales of optical networking equipment, wireless and broadband systems and software products to service providers.

Also presenting is Nakul Duggal, vice president of Technology Qualcomm, who started working at Qualcomm in his early 20’s and rose to the position of Vice President for Qualcomm’s Engineering Services Group (ESG) in less than 15 years. In addition to providing leadership on strategy and services for OMH, he directs a cross-functional team with responsibilities ranging from program management, product management, engineering, and business development teams worldwide.
