Sicap Unveils Sicap Device Management Centre 4 for Always-On Device Management
Sicap (News - Alert), a provider of customized mobile software solutions in the areas of communications and charging, has launched an “always-on Device Management.”
The new Sicap Device Management Centre 4 (DMC4) includes a dedicated “sicap client” for always-on service updates. With the QoS data from sicap, operators can remotely monitor and control devices and eventually prompt subscribers to delete idle applications which consume power and network resources.
According to Fabrice Valois, Sicap Line of business director, the smartphone boom is an impulse for operators to rethink their Device Management strategy. “While data ARPU has grown from application usage, related support costs have eroded margins.”
“There are therefore strong commercial drivers behind always-on Device Management, but additionally, operators are calculating the important gains in Quality of Service/Quality of Experience from seamless updates, especially among non tech-savvy subscribers,” Valois added.
Featuring a set of DMC4 diagnostic capabilities and online helps, Sicap provides a unique end-to-end solution for operators to prevent issues by proactive monitoring and user education, according to company officials.
The Sicap client allows “always on” updating using http communication with the new sicap client. It works by synchronizing settings and applications retrieved over-the-air from the device with reference values on the server.
Additionally DMC4 collects vital signs, such as available memory, battery life and activation of Bluetooth or WiFi (News

According to Sicap, wipe-and-lock and on-line device localization applications are prime examples of mobile security services that have been massively adopted over the last year. Both require over-the-air interaction with Device Management (DM) servers and have contributed to the surge in DM operations.
Operators using DMC4 can confidently cope with traffic increases induced by the smartphone boom, without changing their hardware configuration, company officials.
Recently, Sicap announced a partnership with Swisscom (News - Alert), Switzerland’s leading telecoms provider, to launch an innovative in-store reload kiosk for prepaid subscribers.
