INRIX Offers Traffic Data Solutions to Pioneer's Integrated Web Services Platform
International provider of traffic information and driving services INRIX has announced an agreement with Pioneer Corp. to provide both real-time and predictive traffic data solutions for Pioneer’s new, voice-controlled, integrated Web services platform - Zypr.
The company is collaborating with INRIX to enable Zypr developers to create innovative apps with INRIX data.
Zypr is accessible in the car and on mobile platforms including Apple iOS and Google Android (News - Alert). Company officials said that with the power of voice control and with a single login across devices, it enables software to integrate the Web’s best location-based services and data across smartphones, tablets, consumer electronics devices such as smart TVs and automotive telematics.
“INRIX’s technologies, exceptional traffic information quality and broad coverage made them the ideal Zypr partner for enabling world-class services consumers can access seamlessly anytime, anywhere and across any device,” said Yoshio Aoyagi, general manager of the New Business Development division at Pioneer.
For the Zypr platform, INRIX provides developers with real-time traffic data and a set of fully optimized APIs. Company officials said that developers can create apps that take the guesswork out of navigating across town or cross-country with seamless access to current traffic conditions, traffic forecasts, the best routes, recommended departure times and travel times for any destination.
Moreover, app developers can now integrate INRIX data with Zypr-supported services, which currently include Facebook, Twitter, Google (News - Alert), Yelp, Voicebox, AccuWeather, Slacker Radio, Tuner2 Radio, WCities and XAD.
Device manufacturers can benefit from Zypr API since it simplifies connectivity and enables them to easily create mashups from multiple information sources. Company officials said that it gives them customization and control of the user experience and eliminates the use of an app store.
“The flexibility of the Zypr platform demonstrates the power and versatility of INRIX traffic services for accelerating the location-based services industry's efforts to deliver seamless experiences across devices,” said Kush Parikh, senior vice president of Business Development at INRIX.
INRIX provides Zypr with a traffic information service to consumers every minute via a combination of continuously updated reports from millions of GPS-enabled vehicles and insight from over 400 public and private sources.
“Our traffic-powered apps and flexible APIs uniquely help companies like Pioneer deliver services drivers can access from anywhere to help better plan their trips,” Parikh said.
Earlier this year in April, INRIX introduced the latest INRIX Traffic app that helps people save time, spend less on gas and green their commute by avoiding traffic.
