Powerwave (News - Alert) Technologies, a supplier of advanced solutions for wireless communications networks, announced the launch of its RapidFlex Mobile Deployment Unit (RMDU) and Inside Out Solutions at the 2011 APCO International Conference & Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

The Inside Out Solutions are designed to deliver mission-critical communications to public safety, defense and homeland security agencies to improve both coverage and capacity, accelerate service rollouts and reduce capital and operating expenses.

“APCO members do so much to drive the adoption of new public-safety technologies that help keep all of us safe,” said Khurram Sheikh, CTO of Powerwave, in a statement. “As the industry continues to face evolving mobile wireless habits and network advancements, it will be critical to deploy the right mix of products to build out existing infrastructure to ensure a consistent and reliable experience both indoors and outdoors.”

Powerwave’s Pico Inside Out Solutions deliver pinpoint mobile broadband coverage and capacity indoors and outside for better signal quality and reduced network congestion. It features a Picocell (News - Alert), a compact, all-in-one LTE and Wi-Fi base station that delivers up to 15 times greater overall system capacity, which is ideal for areas with high-data usage or weak network signals.

Another important component of Pico Inside Out Solutions is a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna that combines remote radio head, software-defined radio, tunable filtering and antenna technologies into a compact, integrated design for 3G or 4G LTE (News - Alert) technologies. It increases mobile broadband coverage up to 100 percent and reduces power consumption by 40 percent, lowering operational costs for network providers.

The Internet Commanded Combiner (iCC), offered through this solution, is the first filter combiner to enable deployment of LTE services alongside 3G networks in a matter of days, along with a bandwidth tunable filter for efficient spectrum and bandwidth management.

The RMDU is an integrated mobile communications base station with telescoping antenna tower that enables public agencies to quickly and easily deploy essential wireless bandwidth in remote locations.

Earlier this year, Powerwave announced its new lineup of mobile broadband site solutions that are optimized for operators to quickly and cost-effectively deploy 4G services over existing 2G/3G infrastructure.
