There’s a lot going on in the general world of mobile technology, but since it’s Friday, let’s look a little deeper into the industry of fixed mobile convergence and delve into the news and goings on.

Earlier this week, Wavelink Corporation announced the latest offering of its wireless infrastructure management software, Wavelink Avalanche 5.2. Avalanche streamlines and automates mobile device and infrastructure management tasks across the wireless LAN and WWAN, and ensures that the wireless environment is secure. The latest version offers smarter capabilities, such as reporting, device organization and two-way messaging.

In the health care sector, mobile technology is paramount to emergency response and employee management. SpectorSoft Corporation, a developer of PC/Internet monitoring and surveillance products for business, education, government and general home users, announced that their solution is currently being used by Montgomery County Hospital District for its mobile workforce. In an effort to monitor employee activity, SpectorSoft 360 helped MCHD achieve greater security and compliance with industry regulations like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Also this week, ZAP (News - Alert) Technologies, Inc., a mobile app testing company, released their record results for the last 12 months of operation. Impressively, the company announced that their revenue spiked 350 percent, proving that mobile application testing is, in fact, vital for corporations deploying mobile apps. Mobile application development is expected to encompass over 75 percent of new application initiatives in the global 2000.

And last but certainly not least, LifeShield, a provider of home security monitoring services is giving away 5,000 home security cameras to the Airbnb users who sign up with them. Of course, that’s the first 5,000 users and that is certainly a lot of free security cameras. LifeShield’s next generation home security system offers sophisticated encrypted wireless technology. Via the web or mobile phone, the free wireless HomeView Camera will allow Airbnb users to view snapshots or video clips. To take snapshots or even store images online to view later, users can also program specific triggers.
