To provide customers with mobile security and manageability, LG Electronics (News - Alert) Inc. (LG) has signed a series of partnerships forged with solution vendors in the enterprise mobility industry at CTIA (News - Alert) Enterprise and Applications 2011.

According to a press release, with an extensive portfolio of solutions compatible with LG's Android (News - Alert) smartphones and tablets spanning across mobile device management (MDM), security, mobile virtualization, unified communications (UC) and cloud computing, LG Electronics is helping companies propel mobility strategies and achieve higher productivity with its enterprise-ready mobile devices.

“Organizations are facing many different challenges involving mobile security and manageability. We are committed to developing a strategic line-up of industry leading partners and solutions complementary to LG's smart devices. This allows us to meet the mobility requirements of a diverse group of enterprise customers,” said Ki S. Kim, corporate vice president of Global Enterprise Solutions Business at LG Electronics.

LG's partnership with Box extends a free 50GB lifetime cloud storage service to users of selected LG smart devices, enabling secure enterprise cloud file sharing and content management to boost worker collaboration.

LG, to enhance MDM and security features in its smart devices, included Authentec, McAfee, MobileIron, Mocana (News - Alert), 3LM and Sybase, a SAP company. Companies which are often on the move can also look forward to UC solutions from Avaya and Fuzebox that will be available on LG handsets and tablets.

“By integrating McAfee (News - Alert) mobile security technologies on LG mobile devices, LG users can protect their data and safeguard their privacy. Moreover, by having the McAfee Enterprise Mobility Management (McAfee EMM) software on LG devices, it boosts the confidence in users who bring the devices to their IT department, knowing that they can connect securely to the corporate network.” said Todd Gebhart, co-president of McAfee.

In other news, LG Electronics Inc. recently said that it had filed a sales injunction in South Korea against local branches of BMW AG and Audi AG over the use of lighting products by Osram, which LG accuses of infringing its patents. The injunction request by LG and its component affiliate LG Innotek follows a separate complaint filed with the South Korean trade commission in July to ban imports of LED products from Siemens lightbulb unit Osram.
