Cavium, a provider of semiconductor products for networking, communications and digital home, has announced its association with Aricent, a technology services company, to provide 4G/LTE (News - Alert) Radio Access and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) solutions.

The collaboration enables to provide scalable EPC Frameworks and LTE eNodeB base station protocol software stacks for Cavium's OCTEON II Multi-core and the OCTEON Fusion Base-station-on-a-chip processor families.

"Aricent (News - Alert) has a successful track record providing mobile communications technology and services to the world's leading infrastructure manufacturers," said YJ Kim (News - Alert), general manager, Infrastructure Processor Group at Cavium, in a statement.

LTE equipment makers will benefit from a high-performance, high-capacity solution for their eNodeB and EPC platforms.

The partnership also helps in accelerating time to market, and reducing interoperability risk and development cost.

Aricent's LTE EPC frameworks can support subscriber deployments. It comprises pre-integrated and pre-optimized mobility management entity, serving gateway, packet data network gateway, home subscriber server and policy and charging rules function components.

Recently, Axxcelera (News - Alert) Broadband Wireless, a data networking company that develops telecom platform deployment technology and solutions, announced its partnership with Aricent to deliver a superior mobile broadband experience.

Axxcelera will license Aricent's eNodeB software framework and combine it with its hardware to develop innovative, standards compliant LTE eNodeB software frameworks.
