Wavelink (News - Alert), a provider of multi-vendor management and software solutions, recently demonstrated TE and Avalanche mobile device management on the Motorola ET1 at the National Retail Federation Convention and Expo.

TE is touted as the industry's most widely deployed software for extending mission-critical, host-based applications to mobile workers, according to company officials. Employees can access these applications no matter how they are delivered and across multiple mobile device platforms.

With the extension of TE to Android (News - Alert)-based devices, customers now have additional options in mobile devices as they can use them to connect to host systems in the warehouse and in the field. It has the unique ability to accept data from multiple input sources.

While most emulators only support some input data, Wavelink TE claims to support virtually all data types, regardless of whether it is from the keyboard, scanner, touchscreen, RFID reader and more.

“With added support for Android, we are ensuring our customers have the flexibility to choose the devices and applications best suited to them with the assurance that they will still be able to fully utilize Wavelink's mobile enterprise solutions," Jay Cichosz (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at Wavelink said.

Supported by both Wavelink TE and Wavelink Avalanche, the Motorola ET1 tablet can use Wavelink solutions for TE and mobile device management. It is an enterprise-class device, which has an optional barcode scanner and a magnetic strip reader, and it affords password-protected support for multiple users.

Wavelink also released Wavelink Velocity along with Wavelink TE. While TE allows mobile users reliable access to host-based applications, Wavelink Velocity provides the same fast and stable access to web-based applications.

Wavelink TE for Android is expected to be available for Q1 2012 through Wavelink and its partners.

In related news, Wavelink announced that Gamma Solutions, an enterprise mobility solution provider in Australia and recently appointed Wavelink Platinum partner, will bundle Wavelink TE with mobile device sales by default across multiple hardware platforms and vendors. Through this agreement, all Gamma Solutions customers will have access to the market-leading software from Wavelink for securely connecting their mobile computers to host systems.
