Locaid Achieves Milestones, Secures Market-Leadership Position as a LaaS Company
January 20, 2012

The demand for location-based mobile apps has increased tremendously. Consequently, the demand for Location-as-a-Service (LaaS) platform has also increased.

Cashing in on this market trend, last year, Locaid Technologies, Inc. – a Location-as-a-Service (LaaS) provider in North America – attained various milestones including the recognition as the largest “Location-as-a-Service” company.

As a LaaS company, Locaid operates a location privacy platform that facilitates mobile developers to locate over 350 million devices for enterprise authentication, fraud management, consumer location services and opt-in mobile marketing.

“We're just getting started,” said Rip Gerber, president and CEO, Locaid, in a statement. “Draw three intersecting circles – mobile, location and cloud – and Locaid sits right smack in the middle. We are enabling companies and developers to locate every single one of their employees, assets, customers, all through a single API and all permission-based. By making location access simple, we make our customers very happy.”

Currently, Locaid can locate smartphones, feature phones, tablets and any mobile device on major wireless carriers, such as America Movil, AT&T, Rogers, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless (News - Alert).

Locaid secured the no. 1 market-leadership position as the largest “Location-as-a-Service” company due to several milestones in 2011, such as the addition of more than 100 customers; launching service on all Tier 1 North American wireless carriers; raising $13 million in Series C funding; and launching Instant Locate Web service that enables instant access to carrier location information.

Locaid observed an 886 percent increase in transactions last year. This helped the company to surpass all other network location providers in terms of volume. In addition, the company recorded 99.99 percent uptime.

In 2011, Locaid launched more than 100 large enterprise and mobile companies on its patented, Locaid Xchange Platform (LXG).  Some of the new customers include three of the five largest machine-to-machine (M2M) companies and more than half of the top SMS marketers, such as iLoop Mobile (News - Alert) and Sixth Sense Media.
