Mobile Active Defense (News - Alert), the Smartphone Security Company and Mocana have agreed to merge their technologies and expertise to equip their customers’ BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) enterprise mobile devices with greater security.
Mobile Active Defense believes that Mocana (News - Alert) is the ideal partner for it and its BYOD strategies and Mocana’s solutions protecting devices fits perfectly into its mobile security architecture and product suite. The capabilities and opportunities that this partnership plans to offer are slated to take security on many platforms to the next level.
Mobile Active Defense offers the Mobile Enterprise Compliance and Security (MECS) solution that secures one’s mobile enterprise to the most stringent compliance and security standards and by employing the MECS Server users can lock iPhones, iPads as well as smart phone and tablet devices as demanded by security-aware and compliance regulated organizations and also avoid issues that affect performance and latency.
Mocana’s Mobile App Protection (MAP) is a security solution that complements users’ mobile device management (MDM) solution, but goes beyond app sandboxes and coarse-grained containers to bring security down to the individual app and user. Now customers of both Mocana and Mobile Active Defense can integrate their security and functionality.
With new emerging trends such as the “bring your own device” (BYOD) to the office, companies are evolving beyond traditional corporate-issued devices (Blackberries and PCs) to Android (News - Alert) and iOS-based smartphones and tablets for their employees, allowing them to take advantage of the improved user experience, ease-of-use, and the growing ecosystem of apps on these new mobile platforms. This is forcing IT administrators to place new procedures to securing the apps themselves and not just the devices. Mocana claimed that its solution was designed to cater to these evolving requirements in the IT industry.
“This exciting and timely partnership with Mobile Active Defense marks the beginning of a new era for Mocana. Mocana’s the de facto standard for device design teams looking to build-in security into their device designs, especially in critical contexts like military, smart grid, medical and mobile infrastructure. But moving forward, you’re going to see a lot more of Mocana in the enterprise, as well, especially since we can now leverage the MAD’s MECS technology security framework. Mocana’s device-agnostic security platform combined with MAD’s industry recognized security technology makes for a perfect match that offers the most complete and secure method to secure mobile devices in the enterprise,” stated Kurt Stammberger, Mocana VP of Market Development, in a press release.
