With the dramatic growth of mobile Internet, operators are facing a growing number of network performance challenges. Under this backdrop, Livingston, the test and measurement equipment rental company, forged a distribution partnership with Actix (News - Alert) allowing Livingston to rent licenses out to its customers for the Actix Analyzer multi-vendor post-processing tool.
Actix is a major developer of mobile network analytics and optimization software. With mobile subscribers demanding more feature-rich services, the data traffic is rising at an almost exponential rate. In order to support this growth, the mobile network infrastructure needs to match it.
By providing the mobile operators with software analytics for network optimization, the Actix solutions ensure that mobile operators can use all available network resources.
In a press release, Livingstone explained that Analyzer can support network implementations based on 2G, 3G, HSPA+ and LTE (News - Alert) technologies. According to Actix, the platform can markedly enhance operational efficiency by automating the network optimization processes through a single, comprehensive platform.
By enabling the operators to understand the root cause of the issues affecting service performance, Actix makes it easier for the mobile operators to confront them. The platform helps analyze the performance on the basis of a range of configurable key performance indicators (KPIs), such as jitter, packet loss, re-transmission, etc. From this sophisticated management, quality KPI reports can be produced, outlining where network improvements can be made.
This ultimately results in an improved customer experience.
“Operators have to deal with a growing number of network performance challenges, brought about by huge uptake of the mobile Internet,” said Livingston CEO Mel Porter. “An analyzer presents them with a way to automate their analytics activity, so they can capitalize on the network resources at their disposal and identify sources of poor data service performance.”
“By partnering with Livingston, Actix gives the market an alternative sourcing route through which to access its products, allowing a broader customer base to be served,” he added.
Actix recently announced record-breaking revenue levels for its fiscal year ending January 31, 2012. During the year, Actix revenues reportedly grew 29 percent, resulting in total revenues of over $52M as the number of active customers surpassed 400.
