The first ever WiFi Mobile Interworking solution now available from Acme Packet and Accuris (News - Alert) Networks is designed to help users manage voice, data and messaging easily over 3G, 4G and WiFi networks.
Tier one carriers in both North and South America are trailing the solution right now and the companies have planned to demonstrate the solution at the CTIA, to be held at the Enterprise Ireland Pavilion from May 8th-10th, 2012.
Mobile operators, by utilizing the new integrated WiFi (News - Alert) mobile interworking solution, can extend network coverage and network capacity to WiFi, provide carrier-grade security and offer value-added services. They can now easily migrate to LTE and WiFi networks with this new solution that is also designed to ensure service access.
The WiFi mobile interworking solution leverages Acme Packet’s (News - Alert) Net-Net Security Gateway (SG) to make sure data and voice services are protected against attacks and Accuris Network’s AccuROAM platform for authenticating users who roam between 3G, 4G and WiFi networks.
Acme Packet’ Net-Net Security Gateway (SG) is a multiservice security gateway (MSG) that enables multiple fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solutions by securing the delivery of voice and data services over unsecure Internet and WiFi access networks to femtocells and dual-mode endpoints.
Accuris Networks’ AccuROAM platform helps subscribers to seamlessly and securely connect to an operators’ WiFi hotspot using SIM-based authentication without users having to log in every time a new WiFi hotspot becomes available.
“Acme Packet’s partnership with Accuris Networks (News - Alert) enables us to deliver enhanced capabilities for service providers that are enhancing their WiFi networks to become true, fully integrated, extensions of the mobile network. Service providers can now use WiFi with the full confidence of secure integration with their 3G and 4G networks”, remarked Seamus Hourihan (News - Alert), senior vice president of corporate strategy at Acme Packet, in a press release.
Accuris Networks added that the combined power of Acme Packet’s Net-Net SG, SD and SMX products and the AccuROAM platform will enable them to offer a valuable solution that extends existing data, voice and messaging services onto multiple access technologies networks.
