TerraGo Technologies, a provider of software solutions that enable geospatial data access, has launched TerraGo Mobile, the first geospatial mobile application for non-GIS users.

The product is designed for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 operating systems and offers access to interactive maps in a geo-enabled PDF format to onsite personnel. With TerraGo Mobile, non-GIS experts can add photos, video, audio, comments, etc. to geo-registered data on their mobile device. The data can then be transmitted to the GIS department through email. TerraGo Mobile also offers advanced GPS technology and KML (Google (News - Alert) Earth) files.

Before the files are transmitted, TerraGo optimizes them for performance and portability. The solution also offers multiple coordinate display systems such as Military Grid Reference System (MGRS). These systems can be modified based on user requirements. With TerraGo Mobile, onsite personnel can make use of hotkeys, thus eliminating the need to get trained on complicated GIS system interfaces.

With TerraGo Mobile, users can also locate positions with the help of a GPS device. Additionally, they can calculate distance and area between two co-ordinates, track locations on the map or use the multiple-page PDF file, where they can directly zoom into a location. Onsite personnel can also include stamps, photos, audio, video and forms to locations on the map.

The data from the field can be easily shared with other users with the help of wireless technology like Bluetooth and infrared or through email. The data is AES encrypted, thus offering maximum security.

TerraGo Mobile is compatible with all mobile devices running on Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Mobile 5 or 6 operating systems. To install the application, the system should have a minimum of 128 MB RAM and 64 MB free device storage space. For more information, visit www.terragotech.com/mobile.

TerraGo Technologies offers software applications that enable access and application of maps and images for non-GIS users and customers. The company’s solutions are delivered to more than 700 organizations, which include several defense and intelligence agencies, utility companies, public safety departments, and environmental engineering teams.

The TerraGo Publisher Suite helps organizations to use or optimize data from any source. They can create a geo-enabled PDF, which is also known as a GeoPDF. It is used along with the TerraGo Composer for easy configuration of maps and images. TerraGo’s partners include Adobe, ESRI, ERDAS, Intergraph, BAE Systems and Trimble (News - Alert).
