ArrowSpan Inc. reportedly has introduced its “MAM7700,” a wireless mobile mesh system that’s designed to enable real-time voice, video and data communications over an IP network.
Officials at ArrowSpan (News - Alert) – a Santa Clara, California-based company that develops and manufactures next-generation switching wireless full-duplex Wi-Fi wireless mesh network solutions – say the system is designed specifically for mobile units such as public safety officers, construction crews and field inspectors.
According to Max Lu, president and chief executive officer of ArrowSpan, the MAM7700 (pictured below) is ideal for managing large-scale projects that require secure, real-time information sharing.
“It enables a mobile user to serve as the eyes and ears of coworkers stationed elsewhere so that effective decisions can be made on the spot,” Lu said.
The portable MAM7700 unit can be carried by mobile users or transported in a vehicle. The company says its patented wireless mesh technology allows mobile users to stay in visual contact at all times with a mobile headquarters unit.
The new solution creates a temporary mesh network for mobile personnel by using a less crowded 700MHz band. The system’s multi-radio and multi-channel design also eliminates wireless signal interference and traffic conflict problems that can occur with other mesh network products – a move that’s designed to ensure reliable communications in areas where traditional wireless networks aren’t available.
Its multilevel administrative password control provides users with a measure of security for all services and applications.
Other features include: multiple wireless path design, which provides zero performance degradation and network throughput through a “layer 2” fast switching; and bridging from AP to AP, to support real time video, voice, and data applications.
According to the company, these features can dramatically improve the efficiency and effectiveness of complex mobile operations, including police investigations, military exercises, construction site management, and field inspections for mining, forests, oil and gas.
