Arieso's Cell Planning Solution to Aid Major U.S. Mobile Network
A software company headquartered in Newbury, England – birthplace of author Richard Adams, who wrote “Watership Down,” a novel-turned-cartoon-film about rabbits that still frightens me (see image below) – announced this week that it’s been chosen by a U.S. mobile network provider for a so-called “Automatic Cell Planning” solution.
Officials at Arieso – whose products are used by wireless network operators to optimize performance in real time – say they landed a multi-million dollar contract to replace a number of tools with a single, centralized solution that covers 50,000 cell sites.
According to Shirin Dehghan (News - Alert), chief executive officer of Arieso, the company has been working with the unnamed operator for a number of years. The operator has put Arieso’s software through extensive and detailed trials, Dehghan said.
“We achieved the buy-in of the senior management and a 200-strong engineering team by demonstrating that we have the technology and capability to roll out this tool on a massive scale,” Dehghan said. “This is a major win for Arieso (News - Alert), and to have been chosen over incumbent suppliers confirms our place as the market leader for network optimization software and support.”
Specifically, the company’s “ariesoACP” software will be deployed on the carrier’s GSM/UMTS (News - Alert) network help its engineers optimize the local site count, antenna configuration, and power settings, according to both regional and national technical and financial goals.
In a moment, I’ll post a company diagram showing Arieso’s ACP solution.
But first, a look at The General of “Watership Down”:
See what I mean?
In any case, here’s how Arieso diagrams its solution:
According to Paul Turner (News - Alert), vice president of global operations at Arieso, the company won the contract because it’d already demonstrated the technical superiority of ouitsr solution and the ability to deploy its products and support this operator on a nationwide basis.
“We also proved that we could meet the exacting demands of this new roll out – including the ability to complete the implementation and training for the ariesoACP software within a one month period,” Turner said. “We are confident of meeting this tight deadline and that the carrier will see rapid improvements in its network efficiency and capacity.”
