Skyworks Solutions reportedly has announced that Samsung is leveraging the front-end modules and power amplifiers in its general packet radio service, data GSM management, and third generation models.

The company also said that it’s partnering with baseband suppliers such as Qualcomm, Broadcom, Infineon and NXP to provide integrated front-end solutions for tier-one mobile handset manufacturers such as Samsung (News - Alert).

A fully matched 10-pad surface mount module, the SKY77170 PA module for wideband code division multiple access covers the full 1920 to 1980 megahertz bandwidth. Also, company officials said, it also meets the spectral linearity requirements of high-speed downlink packet access data transmission with power-added efficiency for up to 27 dBm (News - Alert) output.

The SKY77336 PA module for quad-band global system for mobile communications is designed for cellular handsets that support gaussian minimum-shift keying and polar EDGE modulation. It’s designed for cellular handsets supporting GMSK and linear EDGE modulation, according to officials.

Skyworks also says its SKY77519 transmit-receive FEM for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE-single band WCDMA antenna switch support features a low profile and EDGE polar modulation and compact form factor.

Designed in a low profile and compact form factor, the SKY77534 Tx-Rx iPAC dual-band GSM/GPRS FEM offers a complete transmit voltage-controlled oscillator-to-antenna and antenna-to-receive surface acoustic wave filter solution, according to officials.

Samsung is using FEMs and PAs in their newest B3030, B320 and S7330 models.

“Skyworks is pleased to be an integral part of Samsung’s new lineup of GPRS, EDGE and 3G handsets as we continue to partner with a broader set of baseband suppliers,” said Liam K. Griffin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Skyworks.

Woburn, Massachusetts-based Skyworks Solutions (News - Alert) provides analog and mixed signal semiconductors. Last August, the company announced the completion of 2 billion power amplifier modules shipment milestone.
