PCTEL Inc, provider of propagation and optimization solutions for the wireless industry, has unveiled its Medallion GPS multi-band antenna platform, with GPS tracking support.
PCTEL (News - Alert) provides antenna solutions for multiple wireless applications including WiMAX, SCADA, land mobile radio, broadband wireless access, RFID, in-building wireless, aeronautical navigation, and GPS.
Officials at PCTEL say the new antenna covers 806-960MHz, 1710-2170MHz and 2.3-2.6GHz frequency bands for Wi-Fi, WiMAX (News - Alert) and PCS/Cellular Technologies in one single unit, offering an efficient, cost effective solution for a variety of mobile or fixed applications, including mass transit, asset tracking, telemetry, telematics, LMR public safety, field measurement and wireless network optimization.
The New Medallion antenna platform leverages PCTEL's wideband technology and is designed for consumer, commercial and emergency applications. It’s rugged low profile housing provides outstanding shock absorption and water ingress protection for maximum performance and reliability under harsh environmental conditions. What’s more its high impact moulded radome provides added protection for long lasting performance while ultrasonic seal protects the GPS component against extreme weather conditions and cover the entire range of specified frequencies without tuning. Its low visibility design reduces exposure to theft or vandalism, according to the company.
"By combining GPS with cellular/3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX capabilities in our next generation Medallion antenna platform, PCTEL is well positioned to remain competitive and continues to be a premier supplier of high-value GPS antenna products," said Jeff Miller, PCTEL's vice president and general manager of its Antenna Products Group.
He further added: "PCTEL continues to grow in this important segment of the wireless communications industry through research and development activities, and targeted acquisitions of market relevant product lines.”
The company plans to demonstrate its Medallion platform, along with its portfolio of GPS/Telematics, mobile and infrastructure antenna solutions, at the International Wireless Communications Expo show, March 18-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
