Intuit Inc., the maker of QuickBooks announced its GoPayment application for the Palm Pre smartphone. GoPayment is a new small business application which allows business owners to process credit cards on their mobile phones.
The company provides business and financial management solutions to small and medium sized businesses, financial institutions like banks, credit unions and accounting professionals.
Intuit GoPayment application can be downloaded from Pre’s on-device beta App Catalog and it helps improve cash flow by helping small businesses process credit-card payments easily outside the office when and where a job is completed.
“Palm Pre lets entrepreneurs easily juggle the many demands of their business with those of their personal life,” said Pam Deziel, vice president, Developer Marketing, Palm, Inc. (News - Alert) “Palm products have always been about simplifying lives, and GoPayment does that too by letting business owners process payments on the spot so they get paid faster.”
Intuit (News - Alert) released GoPayment as part of its endeavor to deliver innovative mobile offerings which helps entrepreneurs manage their businesses while traveling. Intuit worked with beeweeb (News - Alert) for developing GoPayment for the Palm Pre phone. beeweeb is a mobile software design company which takes advantage of the productivity enhancing features of the WebOS development environment.
beeweeb’s mobile capabilities and the Pre’s touch screen and multitasking features were used by Intuit to offer an intuitive user experience in GoPayment.
Intuit said that GoPayment will be suitable for small businesses which sell products and services away from the store like carpet cleaners, plumbers, photographers, and wedding planners. It enables easy collection of payment on the spot.
GoPaymnet works on the mobile phone itself eliminating need for extra hardware like wireless terminals. Entrepreneurs require only the Palm Pre phone with the GoPayment application and an Intuit GoPayment merchant account. Users can enter credit card data, process payment and send email or text receipt easily.
The application is scalable according to the number of employees allowing business owners to add employees to a single merchant account at no extra cost. Transactions can be monitored by users via the Intuit Online Merchant Service Center.
All transactions are safe and secure as GoPayment protects all information during transmission using the same technology as in financial services industry standard. Credit card data will never be stored in the handset and all users will have a unique login and password for accessing GoPayment information.
