AT&T and Sony Ericsson reportedly plan to unveil two new mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson (News - Alert) C905a Cyber-shot and the W518a Walkman. These devices are expected to deliver optimum photography and social networking experiences besides promoting self-expression.

 

The Sony Cyber-shot camera phone features an 8.1 megapixel camera and other advanced features like face detection, autofocus and GPS tagging. Users can record scenes in their life with ease on the camera phone besides staying connected with friends and family via AT&T’s (News - Alert) 3G network, sources said.

 

The W518a Walkman phone will be the ultimate in personalized entertainment. It will include unique ways to use Facebook (News - Alert), conversational messaging, highly interactive music features and also a 3.2 megapixel camera. “Sony Ericsson (News - Alert) has created two signature phones that enhance the quality of photography and social networking on a phone and take advantage of exciting AT&T services like AT&T Navigator and Video Share,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, mobile phone portfolio, AT&T mobility and consumer markets, in a statement. “The C905a is the best camera available in a mobile phone today and the W518a's unique Facebook user interface and Walkman music features will elevate how our customers express themselves.”

 

“We have two new phones appealing to camera lovers and Facebook users, delivering unique ways for consumers to express themselves,” Karen Morris, vice president of marketing, Sony Ericsson said in a statement.

 

Morris also said that the slick, easy-to-use slider form factor of the C905a is most suitable for photography enthusiasts and early technology adopters, or anyone who desires a digital camera by their side.

 

The 2.4-inch scratch-resistant mineral glass screen of the C905 provides a crystal-clear view of the subject to be photographed and the dedicated camera keys enable easy point and shoot. The 3G slider phone also features a xenon flash with red-eye reduction and Memory Stick Micro storage compatible up to 16 GB. This lets stored photos be easily transferred to and from a computer using the included USB cable.

 

While the W518a is a compact, stylish phone for multitasking consumers who must stay connected to their friends. The Facebook application combined with great music and multimedia features keep users in touch through social networking.

 

The W518a offers an interactive music experience. The Advanced Shake Control technology allows users to shuffle, skip and control volume with a flick of the wrist. The device can be used to purchase and download music from Napster Mobile and eMusic via AT&T Music.

 

The phone also features “Gesture Control” technology, which lets users reject incoming calls, or send alarm to snooze by waving a hand over the phone’s camera lens.
