Verizon Wireless is offering customers a new tool, V CAST Media Manager, to help them manage photos, videos, and music between their wireless phones and PCs.
V CAST Media Manager is powered by a customized version of QuickLink Media Software from Smith Micro (News - Alert) Software, Inc., a provider of software solutions and services for the mobility market.
V CAST Media Manager is a free application for organizing, editing, and playing the digital media collection. For pictures and videos, it saves the pictures and videos created with the phone onto the computer; transfers files between the computer and the phone; helps with intuitive editing tools; and create photo albums and slideshows. It also helps to e-mail pictures.
For music, V CAST Media Manager transfers songs and playlists from the computer to the phone; adds to ones collection by browsing the millions of MP3s in the Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless Media store; and imports playlists from other music management applications.
Verizon Wireless customers with phones like the LG enV TOUCH, Samsung (News - Alert) Alias and Alias 2, can transfer user-generated photos, and videos from their phones to their personal computers using V CAST Media Manager and a USB cable.
'Our customers use their wireless phones more and more to capture photos and video of important events and everyday moments, and now V CAST Media Manager will help them preserve and share those memories,' stated Kyle Malady, vice president, product development at Verizon Wireless, in a release. 'This tool is the first step in giving our customers the resources they need to make the most of the multimedia content they create, acquire or store using their wireless devices.'
'Smith Micro is pleased to be engaged with Verizon Wireless to deliver a comprehensive, world class multimedia software solution to power V CAST Media Manager,' explained William W. Smith, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Smith Micro Software (News - Alert), Inc.
'We are honored to have been selected by Verizon Wireless, one of the world's pre-eminent communication companies, as it brings the best possible mobile multimedia experience to its customers. Smith Micro views this win as a testament to our capabilities and strategic vision for our mobile and cloud-based media management strategy,' Smith added.
