The iconic iPhone (News - Alert) has sold by the millions and prompted many others to launch similar-looking smartphones in its wake.

 
So perhaps the fact that Apple (News - Alert) is now suing one of the so-called copycat device manufacturers shouldn’t come as a surprise. What might come as a surprise to some, however, is that Google has publicly voiced its support for the accused, which is HTC (News - Alert).
 
Of course, HTC manufacturers Google’s Nexus One smartphone. Still, Google isn’t a party to the lawsuit, in which Apple alleges HTC of infringing on 20 of its patents, so the search giant didn’t need to say a word.
