Acision Tops U.S. Mobile Messaging Market: Research
Acision (News - Alert), a provider of mobile data solutions, announced that recent research conducted on the messaging market in the United States recognized the company as the number one vendor of the world's leading mobile data service, SMS,
The research conducted by Informa (News - Alert) Telecoms & Media found that Acision has more than a 60 percent market share of total mobile subscriptions in the U.S., as of end-4Q09.
According to Pamela Clark-Dickson, senior analyst, Informa Telecoms & Media (News - Alert), the US became the largest SMS market in the world in 3Q09, when it overtook the next largest market, China, in terms of total SMS traffic.
Informa forecasts that SMS traffic in the US will almost double over the next five years, reaching 1.7 trillion messages in 2014 and generating US$18.2 billion in revenues.
“We are solidifying our position as the messaging enabler of choice among the operator community and, as a result, a leader in mobile data,” Wayne Irwin, president, North America at Acision, said in a statement. “As we move towards a more data-driven mobile environment it is imperative that operators evolve their networks and infrastructure to offer richer services.”
Acision's solution portfolio across mobile data services, mobile data control and mobile data charging has been geared towards supporting the customers' complete mobile data needs - from controlling and optimizing mobile data networks, to powering services such as messaging while increasing revenue capture, Irwin added.
The company also announced it is highlighting recent customer deployments and Acision Innovation Network collaborations at the 2010 CTIA (News - Alert) Wireless Show. The company is also showcasing its growing portfolio of real-time mobile data solutions.
Acision will be showcasing a live demonstration of its Broadband Mobility Suite which according to company officials is the first live solution to combine all of the capabilities operators need to address today's mobile broadband challenges.
Broadband Mobility Suite addresses issues such as policy management and enforcement, Web and media optimization, service allowance and bundle management, charging, location-awareness and value added services or “VAS.”
Earlier in February, Acision announced the launch of the Acision Message Controller, TMCnet reported. The solution provides operators with a single consolidated platform that supports all messaging services over any network, including 4G and any device, according to company officials.
