eCrypt Technologies Inc., a provider of information security services and solutions having a focus on the wireless industry, has announced to introduce the latest version of eCrypt, its email encryption product that is now compatible with BlackBerry (News - Alert) System Software version 5.0. eCrypt is a unique encryption software for wireless email on BlackBerry smartphones and is available under a perpetual license or on a pay-per-use basis.

The application leverages strong encryption algorithms compatible with the BlackBerry smartphone OS, and helps in preventing unwanted access to email messages during transmission and storage on servers and PCs. It enables the users in communicating freely with each other with an assured mindset that the content of their emails is safe.
With the launch of the new version, the total number of models supported by eCrypt's email encryption software has increased to 26. At present, 11 models of the BlackBerry smartphone are compatible with the latest 'Operating System' or OS 5.0, which is equipped with a number of advanced features, including enhanced email management, wireless contact synchronization, and Gmail integration. With the help of eCrypt, users will be able to easily secure their contacts and emails, easily and seamlessly protecting their digital communications privacy upon their BlackBerry smartphones based upon the new OS 5.0.
As more and more people are choosing smartphones for the convenience and advanced features offered by the devices, the 'always-on' email communication facility is being deployed by a big number of users, which can sometimes lead them to complacency as they send confidential information via email from their mobile handsets without considering or realizing that their unsecured messages can be accessed. The eCrypt software solution directly integrates into the device's email application, and provides true point-to-point encryption so that any messages can't be accessed without authorization.
eCrypt is an Associate Member of the BlackBerry Alliance Program, and the company has received a Mass Market Status from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security for its product. With this status, the company is able to export and re-export the software under section 742.15(B)(2) of the Export Administration Regulations.
According to Brad Lever, CEO of eCrypt Technologies, the company is excited to deliver eCrypt to a whole new segment of users that have the latest devices, as there are legions of existing users that can now upgrade their devices and still enjoy the email privacy benefits that eCrypt delivers.
In March 2010, eCrypt Technologies had urged the users to pay attention to the warning regarding privacy of information as LifeLock (News - Alert), an Arizona based identity theft protection Company, had agreed to settle the charges that eCrypt made false claims about its identity theft protection services, for $12 million.
