Samsung (News - Alert) reportedly launched new GALAXY smartphones for China Mobile that are powered by the Marvell PXA920 processor family.

China Mobile’s subscriber base is supposed to receive a wide variety of choices from these new GALAXY GT-S7508, GT-S6108 and GT-S6358 handsets. As of now, Marvell (News - Alert) processors are powering seven Samsung models and have been very instrumental in driving the mass market adoption of affordable, innovative mobile devices by millions of consumers throughout the world.

“Samsung has a long-withstanding track record and top-brand recognition for providing consumers with advanced, high performance, high quality and cost-effective smartphones, benefiting hundreds of millions of consumers. I am very glad that Samsung has selected Marvell as a strategic partner for the global mobile market to accelerate the new era of a ‘Connected Lifestyle’ for the global mass market,” commented Weili Dai, co-founder of Marvell.

According to Marvell, its PXA920 communication platform is an advanced, highly integrated 3G platform for multimedia-centric handsets. Marvell’s advanced, high-performance, low-power application processor technology merged along with Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), Time Division High Speed Packet Access (TD-HSPA) and Enhanced Data for GSM Environment (EDGE) communication support for next-generation cellular services is capable of enabling users to enjoy an enhanced experience for imaging, HD video, music, games, and other popular handset applications.

Some of the benefits offered by the Marvell PXA920 mass market smartphone communication platform are: integrated 3.5G modem and stack compliant with major carriers; 3G/WLAN/BT (News - Alert) coexistence enables support for IMS, VoIP and other advanced carrier services; prevents unwanted performance interactions/dependencies between AP and modem subsystems; protects cellular network from application processor security threats; and more.

Samsung added that its three new smartphones also feature Marvell’s Avastar 88W8787 wireless chipset, which provides Bluetooth capabilities and Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity, as well as Marvell’s RF838, a 2G/3G dual-mode TD-SCDMA radio frequency transceiver.
