All over the world, most in-vehicle GPS apps are available for car drivers. Very few modern technological innovations are available for truckers. But some companies are bridging that gap and offering apps that benefit truckers.

Garmin (News - Alert) International is the latest company giving truck drivers a taste of modern technology in their vehicles. The company recently unveiled dezl 760, the company's first trucking navigator, with a seven-inch display and a new Active Lane Guidance feature to help truckers confidently navigate intersections and exits.

The dezl 760 includes route calculation based on truck attributes, trucking points of interest (POI), Hours of Service (HOS) logging, an extra-loud speaker and backup camera support.

The new product is the only navigation device for truckers with the ability to receive real-time information through a smartphone app. It is also compatible with Garmin Smartphone Link.

“The new dezl 760 is designed to meet the specific needs of truckers, helping to make their job easier and save time, fuel, and money," said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. "Its seven-inch display makes it easy for truckers to see all the information they need at a glance and allows for split-screen depiction. With features like trip data recording, border notices and real-time information through Smartphone Link, the dezl 760 becomes a full-featured digital assistant in the cab.”

Recently, the company announced new features and abilities for the Garmin Pilot app for iOS and Android (News - Alert) including support for the GDL 39 portable ADS-B receiver. Garmin Pilot can display subscription- free weather and ADS-B datalink traffic information for even greater situational awareness in flight when paired with a GDL 39.
