Mobile users today have become so dependent on their devices they are taking them everywhere. From gym workouts to answering calls poolside – users are not leaving these gadgets behind, ever. But what happens when the devices are dropped, fall into water, or exposed to extreme conditions they are not made to handle? Calif. - based LifeProof offers protective cases to meet the needs of iPhone (News - Alert) users who don’t want to be afraid to take their devices with them wherever they may go.
The cases are slim, lightweight and made to resist damage from water, dirt particles, shock and snow.
Today, the company announced it is not only offering this same level of protection for the growing market of iPad users; it has created a case that protects the device while still offering a “naked touch experience.”
This latest development means users can enjoy the touch and visual clarity of the iPad device without having a screen protector that creates a gap from between the actual screen and the user’s touch.
In addition, the new case includes LifeProof's patent pending Sound Enhancement System, which channels sound through the case cavity – so users get rich, full sound out their device.
LifeProof nüüd can be used on both iPad 2 and Gen 3 devices and is available from the company’s website or at Best Buy (News - Alert) for $149.99.\

Other purchasing options for users include a cover and stand for an additional $29.99, which can be used to help protect an iPad when it’s not in use and doubles as a stand for watching movies or angling the screen. Interested in both? There is a case and cover combo for $159.99 also being offered.
“The LifeProof nüüd case lets you enjoy your iPad as Apple (News - Alert) intended it, everywhere. It delivers perfect visual clarity and an uncompromised touch experience, while giving you LifeProof confidence to enjoy your iPad at the beach, use it on construction sites or on rounds in a hospital, at school or simply let the kids be kids,” said Gary Rayner, CEO at LifeProof.
During an exclusive interview with TMCnet, Rayner noted the growing dependence on apps and smartphones in everyday activities today makes it critical that users carry their devices with them everywhere.
“With the LifeProof product line, there is no convenience penalty or loss of functionality or quality of the user experience while using the iPhone or iPad,” Rayner said.
“Consider LifeProof to be a “conversion” in that it converts your device into an all environmental use device, but with a hardly noticeable increase in size and weight, and with all features of the iPhone or iPad in operation, including several, such as sound, actually enhanced in quality.”
